YourStoryz connects smartphone journalism directly to the newsroom through CGI’s OpenMedia Evolve

New integration brings contributions from field reporters directly into CGI’s new newsroom platform and will be demonstrated live at IBC2026 in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, September 11-14 — YourStoryz has announced a collaboration with CGI that connects mobile content contribution directly to the company’s new newsroom platform, OpenMedia Evolve.

Using YourStoryz Full or YourStoryz Light, reporters, correspondents and other authorised contributors can submit photos and videos from their smartphones, making the material available within CGI’s OpenMedia Evolve’s editorial workflow for review, enrichment and publication. From field to newsroom without separate transfers. The integration shortens the path between the moment news is captured and the moment a newsroom can begin working with it. Mobile contributions do not end up in a separate messaging or file-transfer stream; they enter the newsroom environment where editorial control and further production take place.

Extending the newsroom’s reach while keeping editorial control at the centre

Smartphones make it possible to report faster and from more locations, without requiring a traditional camera crew or a separate transfer solution for every contribution. This lowers the practical and financial barrier to deploying professional reporters, local correspondents, employees or temporary contributors in the field. News organisations gain access to more perspectives and first-hand footage, while the newsroom determines what is verified, edited and published.

This combination is particularly relevant in a media landscape where speed and video are becoming increasingly important, while trust, provenance and human accountability remain essential. OpenMedia Evolve is designed as a story-centric environment that brings together planning, content creation, media assets and publishing. The YourStoryz integration adds an accessible mobile entry point to that environment.

“News happens everywhere. This integration enables a newsroom to involve reporters and other authorised contributors far more easily, without relinquishing editorial control. The smartphone becomes a direct and manageable gateway into the professional newsroom workflow.”
John Wittmaekers, YourStoryz

YourStoryz Full and Light for different contribution needs

YourStoryz Full supports reporters in assembling and editing complete video stories on their smartphones, including arranging clips, adding voice-over, titles, overlays and branding. YourStoryz Light is designed for rapid contribution: participants can join via a QR code and submit photos or video clips with associated metadata. AI-assisted processing for Light, such as transcription and supplementary metadata, takes place in the dashboard. Both routes can deliver content into OpenMedia Evolve’s editorial workflow.

YourStoryz was developed in Europe and is designed for use within European privacy and data-processing requirements. The collaboration therefore focuses not only on speed and scale, but also on a manageable contribution chain in which organisations can configure roles, access, metadata and publishing processes.

“OpenMedia Evolve brings the different elements of modern news production together around the story. Our integration with YourStoryz makes it easier to bring mobile contributions into this connected environment quickly while keeping editorial teams firmly in control of the process.”
Michael Pfitzner, Vice President - Media Solutions, CGI

YourStoryz DEMO

IBC 2026

YourStoryz will demonstrate the integration with CGI from 11 to 14 September at IBC2026 at RAI Amsterdam at booth 7.C25, ahead of the planned launch of OpenMedia Evolve in November 2026. Using their own smartphones and a free trial environment, visitors will be able to contribute content themselves and follow how it becomes available within OpenMedia Evolve’s newsroom workflow.

The live demonstration will show the complete journey: from capturing and submitting material in the field to editorial review and further processing in the newsroom.
