The ORF is a longstanding customer of x-dream-media in the field of workflow automation. Each file-based workflow begins with the ingest of camera media, other storage media or Internet deliveries. At ORF, this is done via a centralized ingest desk. 

We have built multiple workplaces based on the workstation HW and connected all popular storage devices, made possible file browsing and selection as well as metadata collection. Additional features include virus scanning, transcoding, QC, hand off to Media Asset Management. The relationship started in 2013 and is ongoing.

Transcoding software Cambria FTC by Capella Systems is extensively used in different parts of ORF’s broadcasting workflow. For example, for file-based ingest, post-production (news magazines, in-house production) or for broadcasting and playout, as well as for ingest/ outgest into/from an archive. 

More than 50 licenses of Cambria FTC were deployed in ORF, organised in 4 farms. Some of the licenses are set up as standalone in Vienna (transcoding) and others in 10 regional studios across Austria. Cambria FTC by Capella has also integrated with Signiant’s Manager + Agents and IBM’s AREMA. The relationship started in 2018 and is ongoing.
