x-dream-Fabrik gets AI-powered archive, a full PAM for post-production and human-controlled news storytelling

The x-dream AI Hub is now fully integrated into x-dream-Fabrik for asset analysis, search and research. Semantic metadata is now an additional type of metadata on every asset, filled automatically with:

• Speech-to-text, speaker diarization and face identification
• Scene and shot detection, text OCR, and object, scenery and contextual video analysis
• AI-generated summaries, semantic descriptions and editorial suggestions for media assets

On top of this metadata, teams can search all archive content in natural language. They can also research an individual asset in natural language, for example by asking for background information, or for how an asset relates to other assets or to facts.

The AI Hub runs on premises, in the cloud or in hybrid environments, so it fits the way your organization already operates.

The x-dream-Fabrik POSTPRO began as a bridge to production asset management (PAM) systems. It is now a fully featured PAM.

New panel plugins for Adobe Premiere and Grass Valley Edius send work orders and assets from x-dream-Fabrik to the NLE and back. The panels let production managers and video editors work closely together and keep progress visible to everyone involved. This covers rendering the output and returning it to the production pipeline, as well as approvals.

What’s next:

• Q4 2026: AI-based search for archive assets directly from the Adobe or Grass Valley NLE
• Q1 2027: Automatic story editing embedded in the NLE. Core development is finished.

A first generation of AI-based cross-media storytelling is now released - x-dream-Fabrik NEWS. The AI assists journalists in writing stories and editing videos for social, web, radio and TV.

The concept is deliberate: the human thinks and verifies, and the AI does not invent news. AI-generated pre-edits can be sent to browser-based editing or to craft-editing NLEs for the journalist to finish.

The story and show rundown editor has also been improved to match traditional production habits. It manages sequences of live and file-based video segments, including multiple live sources, camera positions, secondary videos, channel assignments, graphics, lower thirds and prompter, as before but better. For more manual productions, an integrated AB player is available. For full automation, x-dream-Fabrik also offers studio automation.
