Android TV strengthening its market position in Poland

According to S&P Global Market Intelligence, Poland is becoming top European market for OTT TV. The research found that 81% of internet users in Poland were watching streamed video on connected TV sets, comparing to 79% in the UK, and 74% in both Sweden and Germany. Such a big demand could not go unnoticed by the leading VOD players on the Polish market - Player.pl and PLAY NOW, who decided to expand their presence to new connected TV platforms.

Player.pl, operated by Discovery, Inc. is one of the most popular streaming platforms in Poland, engaging over 3M users monthly. It offers a vast library of live channels, as well as tVOD/sVOD content, including HBO, Canal+ and own production series, available on multiple platforms: from Web (HTML5), mobile (Android & iOS) to connected TV sets (Samsung SmartTV & LG WebOS). The new Android TV app was launched in April 2018 after only two months of development.

PLAY NOW, operated by P4 (PLAY), the largest MNO in Poland, offers instant access to 50+ live channels, along with catch-up TV content and VOD library for over 14M subscribers. The platform offers such features, like cloud-based nPVR, timeshift, start-over on multiple end-user platforms: Web (HTML5), Android (with Chromecast support) and iOS. The AndroidTV app was launched in March 2018.
