Capella Systems returns to NAB with versions 4.8 of Cambria FTC and Cambria Live

28. Apr 2022

San Jose, CA (April 8, 2022) – Capella Systems returns to the NAB Show floor April 23–27 after two years to exhibit at booth W4214 in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. “We are so excited to finally be back at NAB to see our customers and partners in person again,” says Ikuyo Yamada, CEO of Capella Systems. “And we’ll be there to present the major upgrades from our biggest update to date.”

Cambria FTC is Capella’s next-generation, scalable transcoder, which runs on local workstations or in the cloud. Cambria FTC’s latest version, 4.8, now runs on Linux, offering users a more secure and stable platform for our software at a lower cost than Windows OS. “Linux support has been a top request from many of our customers, and we are thrilled to deliver it,” says Martin Belleau, VP of Engineering at Capella Systems. Cambria FTC V4.8 now supports the NVIDIA NVENC codec, which significantly accelerates encoding speeds, for example, processing 4K HEVC content much faster than real time.

Cambria FTC V4.8’s enhanced Web UI allows multiple users to access, operate, and monitor jobs remotely. Its full integration with Akamai NetStorage enables you to read and transcode files from within the cloud-based storage system as well as directly upload encoded content. An enhanced SCTE35 injection filter allows you to use flexible cue points to insert SCTE35 markers into output streams. “Flexible SCTE35 insertion is key for many of our customers,” says Yamada, “as it allows them to maximize the ad revenue potential of their video streams.”

The Cambria Live Series, Capella Systems’ software-based live encoding suite for broadcast professionals, adds significant new features and enhancements in version 4.8. It also operates on Linux workstations and supports NVIDIA NVENC accelerated HEVC and H.264 encoding, processing HEVC 4K jobs in real time.

“HEVC encoding speed has been a stumbling block to satisfying the increasing demand for high-quality live streaming in 4K,” says Yamada, “but our GPU-based HEVC encoding now allows you to run multiple, simultaneous 4K HEVC live streams.”

Add a Skaarhoj Live Fly midsize controller to your Cambria Live V4.8 installation for a configurable hardware interface that allows a single operator to switch a live multicamera production. Manage your high-volume, live streaming workflow with the Cambria Live Broadcast Manager (BCM), with an updated Web UI that allows multiple users to control and monitor multiple Cambria Live seats from any location.

Our latest addition to Cambria Live Series is the Cambria Live Packager for VOD and live encoding. Cambria Live Packager, also running on Linux, offers a seamless packaging and encryption workflow with SCTE35 ad insertion for live and VOD streams and multi-DRM via CPIX support compatible with all major DRM systems. The Cambria Live Packager Manager monitors multiple Cambria FTC/Cambria Live Packagers to automate high-volume packaging jobs.
